The rock was unbelievable. Just look what it was doing to Brent Indeed!

I was not able to pull of my brilliant plan to go to see The Postmarks show last Friday in Lake Worth and then make it back to Fort Lauderdale for TIMB's birthday bash at Poor House.

Work obligations monopolized my attention until midnight, which was precisely the time that I headed over to Poor House. It was just in time to catch the tail end of the Zombies! Organize! set, which made me dance despite my deep-seated disappointment in not possessing the time management skills that would have allowed me to live out the concert-going plan of the century. Those ill feelings lingered within my person for only about a minute and a half because I was quite suddenly locked within the tickle-filled embrace of one of my favorite people in the world, the awesome writer and Roatan castaway Jeff Stratton.
Court and Stratty - TW is officially sending love -any resemblance to real gang signs is purely coincidental. TW's actual feelings about thugs are too complicated to express through hand gestures.
He was there checking out the scene with a special lady friend and long-time friend of mine and editorial powerhouse, NewTimes Associate Editor Deirdre Funcheon. In fact, all of the cool musicheads and writer people were out at Poor House that night: the Sentinel's Sean Piccoli? check; Radioactive Record's Mike Ramirez? check; New Times' Erica Landau? check; Moodvane's me? haha. Anyway, God, I am so funny it's ridiculous. Please smother your chortles long enough to get to the next paragraph because I have something that I want to say.

The energy in the air at Poor House on Friday night was something special for the local scene. The bands that played included Zombies! Organize!!, Brent Indeed (who said he had so much playing on Friday that he's probably going to start playing out more), TIMB and The Freakin' Hott. But, it wasn't about what these performers did separately during their respective sets that elevated the evening into a bacchanalian frenzy of South Florida rock that peaked during a cover of the Moldy Peaches "New York City is a Graveyard" when there were members from no less than five different local bands on stage singing, dancing and banging tambourines; the buzz in the air was generated by what they did collectively, and by what they do collectively on a regular basis.

There is a social and creative unity to these bands that's been growing over the last year that I've been following them that is culminating into what a local music scene ought to be. Whether it's Freakin' Hott Maggie waxing potty talk poetic about her friendship with Zombies! Oranize!! Mary or Stonefox's Jordan Cruz explaining the critical role that Freakin' Hott Maggie and Aaron played in whittling down his band's upcoming album from the 20-something songs originally recorded to the 12 songs that appear Back on the Wire, it's evident that there is tons of trust and respect between the members of the various bands and projects.

During live shows with two or more of the bands on the bill, the collaborations happen and the energy is palpable.

I've had the pleasure of following several local bands in the last year. I've seen a lot of others, but the groups that I catch whenever possible include Stonefox, The Freakin' Hott, The Pretty Faces, Tongues of the Heartworm, Zombies! Organize!! and Quiet River. Friday night was the second time that I've seen Timb perform live, and I must say that this time I really got it. The highlight of the show was "punk rock" when just about everyone in the bar took the stage to talk about the awesome, and not so awesome, things that you can do because you're punk rock. I will display the video when it's ready.

I took some really awesome pics that night. Come back to Moodvane tomorrowish to see the photo gallery and the videos that I took during the show. I will try to have them up by tomorrow. YouTube doesn't like me today, but I like you.
PS. Hello to those friends who read Moodvane with some regularity. Hi Jeremy. I'm watching and waiting for your blog to come to life. Hi Noelle! Hi everyone else.
