The Panthers saw red last night as they took on the Washington Capitals. My fiancé and I were there to witness the impressive venture. Both teams were playing well; the Panthers had a strong offensive while the Capitals led with good defense. We arrived early enough to watch the warm ups down near the ice. Once the game started, it was a race back and forth for the first goal. The action between the two teams was intense. They were right on top of each other almost the entire game. Both teams had a lot of spills on the ice. Plays were botched when a player would fall and twice during the game, players went right into the nets. What was up with that ice last night? By the end of the third period, the Panthers had a score of 3 and the Capitals had 2 on the board. In the last minute, the Caps pulled their goalie, and before he even reached their box, Matthias had an open shot and scored the fourth goal of the game. The Capitals sent their goalie back to his post, but it was too late by then. With 30 seconds left on the clock, the Capitals again, pulled their goalie, but they couldn’t get anything by the Cats and the game ended 4-2 Panthers. |

Stars of the game were Stephen Weiss, Mikael Samuelsson, and Goalie Scott Clemmensen. My star of the game was Tomas “Flash” Fleischmann, who had two assists on Samuelsson’s goals, early in the game. Flash’s playmaking skills made the difference. This was a great matchup of teams, with lots of action. Perhaps the only disappointment of the game was the lack of a good fight between the rivals. Even the most violent of the Panthers behaved themselves and fisticuffs were avoided.
