Late Friday night, and the New River slips by on it's way inland with the tide.  It's black, silky surface reflecting a wavey myriad of colored neon lights from the downtown skyline.  A couple of friends and i were huddled cozily under an umbrella, perched on some high stools on the dock at the Pirate Republic Bar and Restaurant.  The night air was 76 degrees, and it was sprinkling.  My hamburger with a fried egg and bacon was perfection-on-a-bun!  The sweet potato fries were a hit, and our waitress "Luna" kept us laughing while we ate.

My keys jingled as I turned the deadbolt and headed off into a pre-dawn, pre-java-foggy morning.  Up over 4th Ave. bridge, and down the other side.  I turned West toward I-95 on Broward Blvd., only to find the Starbuck's had been shut down, and that Dunkin' Donuts wasn't open yet.  Onward over I-95, and a hairpin turn later, under the on-ramp- i rolled up onto Tri-rail's Fort Lauderdale platform.  'Cross-referencing the schedule with the map- I fed the machine money, and it fussed momentarily and, eventually, spit out a ticket.
